Stats before the game: In the last five games, Spain and Germany have only won one game with the other three ending in draws. (Except the Nations League match, where Spain won 6-0). Their most recent game in the 2022 World Cup ended with a 1-1 draw. This will be the fourth meeting between Spain and Germany at the European Championships: so far two victories for Spain (1984 and 2008) and one success for Germany (1988). The last meeting between the two national teams in the tournament dates back to the 2008 final, when Spain won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Fernando Torres. The last match between Spain and Germany dates back to the 2022 World Cup: 1-1 draw in the group stage. Spain remained unbeaten in the last four European and World Cup matches against Germany (W2, D2); in these four matches only six goals were scored (four by Spain and two by Germany). After losing their first match against Spain on German soil (2-1 in a friendly in 1935), Germany remained unbeaten in their next eight matches against La Roja on their own territory (5W, 3D). No host nation has ever been eliminated in the quarter-finals at the European Championships; all four previous hosts have progressed to the quarter-final round: England in the penalty shootout against Spain in 1996, the Netherlands beat Yugoslavia 6-1 in 2000, Portugal beat England in the penalty shootout in 2004 and France beat Iceland 5-2 in 2016. This will be Germany’s 19th quarter-final between the World Cup (14) and the European Championship (5), more than any other European national team combining the two tournaments. Additionally, the Germans have advanced past the quarterfinals in 15 of these 18 quarterfinals (83%), including all four European Championships (1996, 2008, 2012, 2016).

Wow, spectacular view before the game. Spain and Germany lineups
