Great news! SSC Napoli confirmed on Wednesday 17 June 2020 that it has agreed terms with forward Dries Mertens over a new contract with the club. Mertens has signed for a further two years with the option to extend for a third.

Mertens is living a great moment becoming the all-time top goal scorer of Napoli reaching 122 goals after his goal in the Coppa Italia Semifinal Second Leg against Inter for the 1-1 on Saturday 13 June 2020.   The announcement is made, precisely, on the same day of the Coppa Italia Final when Napoli will play against Juventus at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium.

“Pleased to be together for a long time to come – long live Dries!” wrote Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, announcing the deal on Twitter.

Mertens joined Napoli in the summer of 2013 and is currently in the midst of his seventh season with the Azzurri.

Here are Dries Mertens’ goals for Napoli:

Serie A: 90 goals
Champions League: 16 goals
Europa League: 9 goals
Coppa Italia: 6 goals
Champions League preliminary rounds: 1 goal
