Lazio failed to win the Serie A Week 35 on Friday 12 May 2023 at the Olimpico di Roma Stadium in Rome, Italy. The match between Lazio and Lecce ends 2-2, with many emotions. Gabriel Strefezza didn’t convert a penalty in the 23rd minute for Lecce. Hope for Lazio to arrive with the goal by Ciro Immobile unlocking the result in the 34th minute. More excitement a the Olimpico when Lecce made a comeback with a brace from Oudin. Milinkovic-Savic equalized in the 94th minute saving at least 1 point for Lazio.

In the next round, Lazio will play away against Udinese, Lecce will play at home against Spezia. Lazio have suffered three defeats in their last four league games. Lecce have lost their last five away games.  Lazio’s objective is to return to the second position being -2 points below Juventus with 66 points while Lecce need the victory to be away from the relegation area.

Lecce had the chance to open the score in the 23rd minute. Referee Fabio Maresca gave a penalty to Lecce conceded by Elseid Hysaj. Yet, Gabriel Strefezza missed the penalty.

Lazio opened the score in teh 34th minute. Forward Ciro Immobile defeated Lecce goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone with a left footed shot to the center. The assist is by Luis Alberto.

A thriller first half ending with Lecce equalizing in the 45+2 minute. Remi Oudin defeated Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel with a left-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Valentin Gendrey.

There is a cold shower for Lazio in the 51st minute. Lecce took the lead with the goal by Remi Oudin with a right-footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Gabriel Strefezza.

✅     Stats before the game: After four useful results in a row (W3, D1), Lazio have lost their last two Serie A matches against Lecce; however, of the eight defeats suffered by the biancocelesti in the 31 matches played so far against the Salento team, only one has come at the Olimpico: the one 1-2, in January 2011 (goal by Mauri for the capitolini; own goal by Muslera and center by Grossmüller instead for the Giallorossi). In the 15 Serie A matches staged at the Olimpico between Lazio and Lecce, the Biancocelesti have only been without goals in one match in the partial: the first of the series, dated 30 April 1989 (0-0); since then, 35 goals scored against the Giallorossi, for an average of 2.5 per game.  After a string of seven wins and one draw, Lazio suffered three defeats in their last four league matches (W1): as many knockouts as those put together by the biancocelesti in the 18 previous Serie A matches between matchday 13 and matchday 30. Lazio did not find the goal in the last round of the championship; only once under Maurizio Sarri’s management has the Capitoline team been without goals for two consecutive matches in Serie A: in November 2021, against Juventus and Napoli. Lecce have won only twice in 32 away matches against the two teams from the capital in the top tournament: in the first match played against Roma in April 1986 (with Eugenio Fascetti on the bench) and in the one in January 2011 against Lazio (2- 1, Luigi De Canio as coach). Lecce have lost their last five league away games, after winning the previous two; the last time Salento had more consecutive defeats away from home in Serie A dates back to October-December 2010 (six in that case).
