Spezia with a wake up call to earn points for salvation after losing the Serie A Week 32 game against Monza on Friday 28 April 2023 at the Alberto Picco Stadium in Spezia, Italy. Monza conquered the peak with a goal in time: Ciurria in the 21st minute and Carlos Augusto in the 93rd-minute decree the third consecutive victory for Monza.  In the second half, there was no shortage of opportunities on both sides but the hosts lacked the concreteness to find an equalizer and were punished in the final by the sixth league goal from the Brazilian winger.

Spezia, in a crisis of results and slipped dangerously close to the relegation zone.

Monza opened the score in the 20th minute. Patrick Ciurria defeated Spezia goalkeeper Bartłomiej Drągowski with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Andrea Colpani.

Carlos Augusto sealed the victory in the 93rd minute scoring with a left-footed to the bottom left corner. The assist is by José Machín.

✅    Stats before the game: Spezia have drawn five of their last seven Serie A matches against newly promoted sides (W1, L1), having only split the stakes once in the previous six (W4, L1).  Spezia are still unbeaten in their seven home matches against newly promoted sides in Serie A, thanks to three wins and four draws. Since the beginning of 2023 no team has scored fewer goals in Serie A than Spezia (12, like Lecce) – in the new calendar year, moreover, in the five major European championships only Ajaccio (11) has more games without any goals of the bianconeri (eight). Spezia have failed to score in six of their last eight Serie A home games, as many times as in their previous 42 home games in the top flight. Monza earned 41 points in their first 31 Serie A matches; the last team to do better after its first 32 games ever played in the top flight was Chievo in 2001/02 (51 points).
