Hellas Verona are on a sprint race to earn points to dream with salvation.  Verona won the Serie A Week 31 game against Bologna on Friday 21 April 2023 at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium, Italy.  Surely, these are three precious points for Verona, who are now hooking up Spezia (who, however, have one game less) in the safety zone. Bentegodi’s victory bears the signature of Simone Verdi, who scores a brace. At the end, in full recovery, Bologna shortened the distance with Nicolás Domínguez, and then come close to equalizing with Orsolini.

On the next day, Verona will visit Cremonese, while Bologna will play at home against Juventus.

Hellas Verona opened the score before ending the first half. In the 45+6′ minute, forward Simone Verdi defeated Bologna goalkeeper Lukasz Skorupski by converting a penalty with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The penalty is conceded by Skorupski.

Nicolás Domínguez scored the honor goal for Bologna in the 93rd minute defeating Hellas Verona gaolkeeper Lorenzo Montipò with a right-footed shot to the high center. The assist is by Nicola Sansone.

Bologna have remained unbeaten in eight of their last nine Serie A matches against Verona (W4, D4) and have always scored at least one goal in the run: in fact, the current series is the longest series of matches scored by the rossoblù against the gialloblù in the competition.  Bologna is the team against which Verona has the lowest percentage of defeats in Serie A (32%), considering the opponents they have faced at least 40 times in the competition (15 KOs in 47 previous ones).  Verona have won only one of their last seven home matches against Bologna in Serie A (D3 L3), 2-1 on 21 January 2022 in the most recent of these meetings (on that occasion Caprari and Kalinic answered the initial advantage signed by Orsolini). Bologna have achieved four wins in their last six Serie A away games (D1 L1), the same number of victories they had recorded in their previous 21 away games in the competition; moreover, in the most recent one he did not concede a goal (2-0 v Atalanta) and could keep two clean sheets away from home in the top flight for the first time since September 2017.  Verona have won only one of the three games played in Serie A on Friday (P2): 2-1, precisely against Bologna on 21 January 2022, with Igor Tudor on the bench.
