Hellas Verona failed to win the Serie A Week 3 game  defeated by Atalanta on Sunday 28 August 2022 at the Marc’Antonio Bentegodi Stadium in Verona, Italy.  Verona remain with only 1 point while Atalanta claimed this victory to climb to  the 4th position.   Verona losing four games in a row since March-April 2021, when one of the defeats was precisely against Atalanta.

In this season, Atalanta won against Sampdoria and drew against Milan: considering the previous 10 seasons of Serie A, only in 2020/21 did they remain unbeaten in all the first three matches of the season in the tournament.

Atalanta opened the score in the 50th minute. It is Teun Koopmeiners to defeat Hellas Verona goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò with a left footed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Marten de Roon.

 ✅    Stats before the game.  This is the 45 games in Serie A between Verona and Atalanta: Verona with 12 wins, 14 draws, and Atalanta 18 wins.  After the 2-1 in Bergamo last April (goal by Ceccherini and own goal by Koopmeiners), Verona could win two games in a row against Atalanta for the first time since 2014.   Verona and Atalanta meet in August only for the third time in their history in Serie A: the next will be the Gialloblù’s first goal in this month of the year against the Nerazzurri (previously 0-0 in 2014 and 1-0 for the ‘Atalanta in 1989, also in Bergamo).  Verona drew the last league match against Bologna, in the whole of last season of Serie A the Scaligeri have only once recorded two consecutive draws (September 2021 against Salernitana and Genoa).
