Napoli failed to win the Serie A Week 3 game to keep the perfect score after a draw with Fiorentina on Sunday 28 August 2022 at the Artemio Franchi Stadium in Florence, Italy.  Napoli and Fiorentina share the stakes and maintain their unbeaten run in the league.  This draw sees Napoli sharing 7 points with AC Milan, Lazio, Atalanta, Torino and AS Roma. Then there is Inter with six points, immediately ahead of the pair formed by Fiorentina and Juventus with five points.

In the first half a goal is canceled by the VAR to Napoli forward Victor Osimhen for an offside. It is the third 0-0 in seven days for Fiorentina after the one with Empoli and the one with FC Twente in the preliminary round of the UEFA Conference League. For Napoli, however, this result was missing from 24 October 2021 against Roma at the Olimpico.

In the next round, Fiorentina will play the away game against Udinese while Napoli will host Lecce.

✅    Stats before the game. After a 3-2 victory in the last match in Serie A (April 2022, at Maradona), Fiorentina could beat Napoli in two consecutive games in the top flight for the first time since the period between November 1994 and January 1997 (five consecutive wins with Ranieri on the bench).  Napoli have won their last three matches at the Franchi against Fiorentina in Serie A, always scoring at least two goals (eight in total). The Neapolitans had won as many league games at Viola’s home in the previous nine matches (5D, 1L). After the win against Cremonese and the draw against Empoli, Fiorentina could remain unbeaten in all of their first three Serie A matches of the season for the first time since 2013/14 with Vincenzo Montella at the helm (2W, 1D in that case ). In 2022, Fiorentina kept a clean sheet seven times at home, out of 11 games: during the period no Serie A team did better (Milan also seven). Napoli have set their new record for goals scored in the first two games in a Serie A season: nine (exceeded eight in 2020/21).
