Salernitana and Inter ended the Serie A Week 29 game with a draw on Friday 7 April 2023 at the Arechi Stadium in Salerno, Italy. This is the first draw in Serie A between the two teams, an unprecedented result in previous direct matches. Inter took the lead in the opening stages thanks to Robin Gosens and came close to doubling several times but always hit Ochoa on the wall, author of at least three decisive interventions especially in the second half when he deflected Barella’s shot onto the post and neutralized De Vrij after Lukaku’s sensational crossbar. In the final, the ex Antonio Candreva’s mocking cross gave Salernitana a golden point. Inter, fourth game without a win in the league

Salernitana come into this tie with four consecutive league draws and have never recorded more in a row in the competition. After the last-minute draw in the Coppa Italia against Juventus, Inter failed to grab this victory after three consecutive defeats in the league so as not to further jeopardize the race for qualification in the Champions League. Positive moment instead for Salernitana, unbeaten in five games where they obtained four draws (including the 1-1 draw at San Siro against Milan) and a home victory against Monza.

Inter opened the score in the 6th minute. Robin Gosens defeated Salernitana goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa with a left-footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Romelu Lukaku.

Salernitana equalized in the 90th minute. Antonio Candreva equalized defeating Inter goalkeeper Onana with a right-footed shot to the top left corner. The assist is by Boulaye Dia.

✅   Stats before the game:  No draw in the seven previous matches between Inter and Salernitana in Serie A: the Nerazzurri boast five wins, including three in the three meetings in the 21st century, against the two from Campania (in 1948 and 1999). After winning their first two Serie A home matches against Inter without conceding a goal in 1948 and 1999, Salernitana lost last season’s match at the Arechi against the Nerazzurri 0-5: they scored five goals in that match different goalscorers (Perisic, Dumfries, Sánchez, Lautaro Martínez and Gagliardini). After defeats to Spezia, Juventus and Fiorentina, Simone Inzaghi could become the first Inter manager to lose four consecutive Serie A matches since Claudio Ranieri in February 2012. Inter have not scored in two league games and the last time they recorded three consecutive Serie A matches without scoring was in February 2019, with Luciano Spalletti on the bench. Salernitana are also unbeaten in five Serie A matches and have only once done better in the top flight (seven between April and May 2022).

👉 Lineup SALERNITANA 3-4-2-1: Ochoa – Daniliuc, Gyomber, Pirola – Bronn, Coulibaly, Vilhena, Bradaric – Candreva, Kastanos – Piatek.

👉 Lineup INTER 3-5-2: Onana – Darmian, De Vrij, Acerbi – Dumfries, Barella, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Gosens; Lukaku, Correa.
