Lecce and AS Roma ended the Serie A Week 22 game with a draw on Saturday 11 February 2023 at the Via Del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy.  Lecce conquered another point in front of the big teams in the championship without suffering particularly, the result does not change compared to the first fraction.   Tough luck for Roma conceding the lead to Lecce after the own goal in the 7th minute by Roger Ibañez.  Roma equalized in the 17th minute with Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala after converting a penalty conceded

Roma will have to archive this sour result and be ready to visit Salzburg for the Europa League on Thursday.

Good news seeing back Dutch midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum who had played only 12′ in Serie A, on the first matchday of the league. Wijnaldum’s injury which became an ordeal lasting 181 days, almost six months. The nightmare is now over. Wijnaldum finds the field again, replacing Matic in the 84th minute

In the 23rd round, Lecce will play the away game against Atalanta while Roma will host Hellas Verona.

✅  Stats before the game. Roma have lost only two of their 33 Serie A matches played against Lecce (W23, D8): 2-3 on 20 April 1986 and 2-4 on 7 April 2012 – against no team they have faced at least 10 times in the competition, the Apulians have a lower percentage of successes than against Roma (6%). Roma have always found the goal in their last 19 Serie A matches against Lecce, scoring an average of 2.4 goals per match – Lecce’s last clean sheet dates back to 9 April 2000, a goalless draw at the Via del Mare. Roma kept clean sheets in 56% of their away games against Lecce in Serie A (9/16), conceding a total of 11 goals at the Apulian home (an average of 0.7 per game). After the 2-0 success against Cremonese in the last round, Lecce could keep two consecutive Serie A clean sheets for the first time since March/April 2012 (two 0-0 with Serse Cosmi in charge).
