Empoli win the Serie A Week 10 game against Monza on Saturday 15 October 2022 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy.  Palladino’s streak of consecutive victories on the Monza bench stops at three, collecting his first defeat.  Empoli reached 11 points leaving Monza with 10 points. A narrow victory for Empoli thanks to Haas’ goal, brings home three heavy points. A balanced match that saw Monza pushing especially in the final minutes, but the Tuscan defense and goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario’s saves did not collapse the wall. In the last minutes there are protests from Brianza for a penalty not granted to Birindelli and then the red card in the 95th minute to Nicolò Rovella for a shot to Marin with the ball far away.

Empoli scored the only goal of the game in the 11th minute. Nicolas Haas defeated Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio from very close range with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner.

✅  Stats before the game. Empoli have won only one of the last 11 Serie A matches against Lombard teams, registering nine defeats in the partial: the only success came against Atalanta on May 21st.  Empoli have lost only one of their last eight Serie A matches against newly promoted formations (1-2 v Venice in September 2021) – they complete two wins and five draws in the partial – however, Empoli last clean sheet against teams from the Serie B dates back to December 2016 (2-0 v Cagliari).  In four home games played so far in this championship, Empoli have collected only two points (2D, 2L), their worst result at home after four Serie A games since 2003/04, a season that ended with relegation to Serie B. Monza comes from three consecutive league successes in which they have not conceded any goals: the last newly promoted team to have obtained four clean sheets in a row in Serie A was Bologna in 2016, while the last with four consecutive wins was Juventus in 2008.
