🇮🇹   Serie A Week 1 game 🔴🔵 Genoa vs Inter ⚫️🔵 on Saturday 17 August 2024 ended with a draw.   The 2024-25 Serie A season kicks off with a shock for the reigning champions of Italy. Inter, typically strong defensively, appeared unusually vulnerable, allowing two goals and lacking their usual composure. Individual mistakes from Sommer and Bisseck overshadowed Thuram’s impressive two-goal performance.

Alessandro Vogliacco puts his team ahead, but Thuram turns the game around with two goals. In stoppage time, Junior Messias sends the fans into a frenzy by scoring on the rebound after a penalty. A total of 33,300 fans, including season ticket holders and general admission, filled the stands, creating an incredible atmosphere with a stunning display.  Ultimately, the Nerazzurri had to settle for a draw against a determined and resilient Genoa.

Inter remained with a solid track record, having gone unbeaten in their last 11 matches against Genoa, with eight wins and three draws. Moreover, the last time Genoa celebrated a victory over Inter was on February 17, 2018, when they won 2-0 at the Ferraris, featuring an own goal by Andrea Ranocchia and a goal from Goran Pandev.

Genoa shocked Italy’s champions by scoring first in the 19th minute. Alessandro Vogliacco managed to get past Inter’s goalkeeper Yann Sommer with a close-range right-footed strike that nestled into the bottom left corner of the net.

The equalizer..

Inter equalized in the 30th minute. Marcus Thuram brought Inter Milan level by heading the ball into the bottom left corner, thanks to a cross from Nicolò Barella.

A brace….

Inter took the lead in the 82nd minute. A brace from Marcus Thuram with a right-footed strike to the center, thanks to an assist from Davide Frattesi. The goal was confirmed following a VAR check.

A thriller ending….

You got to be kidding! What a thriller ending! In the 94th minute, Genoa equalized with the goal by Junior Messias with a precise right-footed strike from just a few yards out, hitting the high center of the goal following a set piece.

Inter has maintained an impressive record against Genoa, remaining unbeaten in their last 10 Serie A encounters, with eight victories and two draws. The last time Genoa triumphed over the Nerazzurri in the league was on February 17, 2018, when they won 2-0 at the Ferraris, thanks to an own goal by Andrea Ranocchia and a strike from Goran Pandev.

In their 56 home matches against Inter, Genoa has drawn 21 times, including the last two, while securing 18 wins and 17 losses.
