Mission accomplished. AC Milan surviving the pressure to win the away game reaching 29 points and dream with the second position in case of AS Roma losing or drawing the match against Pescara to overtake the second position. Empoli crying out loud for salvation winning only 2 games this season. It’s the 23rd time that AC Milan and Empoli have faced each other in Serie A. Stats showing only two wins for Empoli, while the AC Milan have won 13 times.
A brilliant match for the young forward Gianluca Lapadula scoring two goals in this game. A boost for the morale of the team who is missing Colombian forward Carlos Bacca with a thigh injury after the Milan Derby and Lapadula responding well.
It’s AC Milan to open the score in the 15th minute. Forward Gianluca Lapdula defeating Empoli goalkeeper Skorupski with a right footed shot in the bottom left corner. The assist is by Suso.

A quick reaction by Empoli equalizing the score in the 17th minute. It is the ex-AC Milan player Riccardo Saponara to level the situation by defeating Milan goalkeeper Gianluca Donnarumma who had anticipated to clear, but nothing to do as Sapanora’s left footed shot went to the bottom right corner.

AC Milan taking the lead again in the 61st minute. It is Spanish forward Suso to smack a left footed shot to the bottom left corner after getting the assist by defender Ignazio Abate.
Oops…. what else could go wrong for Empoli!!! There is the own goal by defender Andrea Costa giving AC Milan now a wide margin leading with a 1-3 at the Castellani. Costa attempted to clear the shot by midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura, but the ball went inside the net….. sad faces for Empoli fans while Milan players running towards the section of the “Curva Sud” fans to celebrate.
