AC Milan win the Serie A Week 8 defeating Empoli on Saturday 1 October 2022 at the Carlo Castellani Stadium in Empoli, Italy.  This is a precious victory for Milan claiming all 3 points to climb towards the top 3 positions.  Milan with 17 points are -3 points below Napoli with 20 points. A 3-1 more complicated than expected and solved only in the crazy final minutes. The goals from Ballo-Toure in the 94th minute and Leao in the 97th minute secured the Rossoneri’s victory. Three goals in the last five minutes of extra time. A crazy night that allows Pioli to redeem himself after the knockout against Napoli. Empoli almost grabbed a draw, but Milan with the killer instict of the champions claimed the victory.

Milan opened the score in the 79th minute. Ante Rebić defeated Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario with a right-footed shot to the center. The assist is by Rafael Leão.

Empoli equalized for the 1-1 in the 92nd minute. Nedim Bajrami defeated AC Milan goalkeeper with a right-footed free kick shot.

AC Milan took the lead again in the 94th minute. Fodé Ballo-Touré stopping Empoli celebration breaking the draw with a left-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Rade Krunic

AC Milan sealed the victory in the 97th minute. The goal by Rafael Leão just before the end of the game scored with a right footed shot to the center. The assist is by Ante Rebić

Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario conceded three goals not a happy experience.

Among the 23 teams they have faced more than three times in home games in Serie A, Milan are the only ones against which Empoli have never won: in 14 previous draws and seven Rossoneri successes. After the 1-0 win against Bologna, Empoli could win two matches in a row in the league for the first time since December 2021, while the last time they entered two consecutive clean sheets in Serie A dates back to January 2017 ( three in that case). In un Meazza completamente esaurito Inter e Roma hanno offerto un grande spettacolo, con i giallorossi che tornano a casa con 3 punti e staccano i nerazzurri in classifica di 4 lunghezze vincendo 2 – 1. 

Dopo pochi minuti dal via Dzeko trova il gol dell’ex, ma la sua esultanza viene stoppata dal Var che interviene per rilevare la sua posizione di fuorigioco sul nascere dell’azione. La gara prosegue con grande attenzione da parte delle difese, preoccupate a non concedere nulla agli attacchi, dove spiccano le assenze dei due centravanti, uno lungodegente (Lukaku) e uno inizialmente in panchina (Abraham). Allo scoccare della mezz’ora bella manovra dei nerazzurri con Barella che imbecca Dimarco, abile a girare di prima di destro, ingannando Rui Patricio, nella porta giallorossa. La Roma vive qualche minuto di sbandamento, ma al 39′ Dybala al volo, su cross di Spinazzola, colpisce in maniera perfetta e sigla il pareggio. Nella ripresa il primo cambio è degli ospiti, con Abraham che subentra a Dybala. Al 63′ punizione magistrale di Calhanoglu che si stampa sulla traversa a portiere battuto, poi ancora occasione per l’Inter con Asllani che dal limite sfiora il palo. Nel momento di maggior pressione dei padroni di casa c’è la fiammata degli ospiti che decide il match. Prima c’è un’avvisaglia con Abraham che in girata ha una buona occasione, poi, su perfetta punizione di Pellegrini dalla trequarti, arriva lo stacco imperioso di Smalling che fissa il risultato sull’1 – 2. Inzaghi effettua subito due cambi e schiera tutti i suoi offensivi, ma Rui Patricio non corre pericoli e sono anzi giallorossi a sfiorare il terzo gol con un contropiede di Abraham.

Roma caused an upset and win the Serie A Week 8 game against Inter on Saturday 1 October 2022 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy.  Roma with ex-Inter Coach Mourinho suspended for this game can only smile with this important away victory.  The last time Roma defeated Inter in Serie A dates back to February 26, 2017 (1-3 at the Meazza). Paulo Dybala and Chris Smalling light up the Roma party at San Siro. After the initial disadvantage signed by Federico Di Marco, Roma managed to react. Roma temporarily in third place in the standings. Inter collapse in their second consecutive defeat.

Inter opened the score in the 30th minute. Federico Dimarco defeated AS Roma goalkeeper Rui Patricio with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Nicolò Barella.

Roma equalized for the 1-1 in the 39th minute. Argentinean forward Paulo Dybala taking care of business defeating Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic with a left-footed shot to the top right corner. The assist is by Leonardo Spinazzola.  Way to go for Dybala who was rumored to transfer to Inter and instead Roma signed him!

Roma overturning the result and took the lead in the 75th minute. It is Chris Smalling to unlock the draw from very close range with a headed shot to the bottom right corner. The assist is by Lorenzo Pellegrini.


✅  Stats before the game. Roma are the opponent against whom Inter have won the most matches in Serie A: 75 out of 178 matches, 54 draws and Roma with 49 wins.  Roma are the ones against whom the Nerazzurri have scored the most in the competition (290 goals ).
