Atalanta win the Serie A Week 8 game defeating Fiorentina on Sunday 2 October 2022 at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo, Italy. Atalanta reached 20 points, a sum they had never reached after the first eight seasonal matches in a single season in Serie A, and returned to the top of the table in the company of Napoli also with 20 points.

It is a special victory for Atalanta Coach Gian Piero Gasperini because he reached Mondonico with 299 matches on the Nerazzurri bench at the top of the all-time coaching table in the history of the Club. It’s the third 1-0 of the season and fifth clean sheet for Gasperini’s men, who are confirmed as impenetrable in defense. On the other hand, it is the third defeat in the league for Fiorentina (all away), who remain in eleventh place in the standings.

The only goal of the game was scored in the 59th minute and enough for Atalanta to claim the victory.  Ademola Lookman defeated Fiorentina goalkeeper from very close range with a right-footed shot to the center.  The assist is by Luis Muriel.

✅  Stats before the game. Fiorentina have won their last two Serie A games against Atalanta, having lost each of the previous three; the last time the Viola had more consecutive wins against the Nerazzurri in the competition was in February 2016 (eight).
Atalanta have won four of their last seven top-flight matches against Fiorentina (1N, 2P), as many wins as in the previous 29 games against this opponent (11N, 14P). Fiorentina have remained unbeaten in eight of their last 10 Serie A away games against Atalanta, winning five of these (3N); against any opponent he has achieved more outside successes in the period (ie from 2012/13) – five also against Verona. Atalanta have won only one of their last nine Serie A home games (3-1 against Torino on 1 September) and have drawn five times in the partial (3P).
