Juventus faced Club Brugge in a goalless stalemate on Matchday 7 of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday, January 21, 2025 at the Jan Breydelstadion in Bruges, Belgium. Despite their efforts, Juventus couldn’t secure a win and had to settle for a 0-0 draw. The match started off slowly, with both teams making a few careless mistakes. The first opportunity arose in the 2nd minute when a defensive blunder from Juventus allowed Ferran Jutgla to take a shot from the edge of the box, which missed the target. Juventus had difficulty finding their groove, while Club Brugge attempted to take advantage of the flanks but were unsuccessful.

Stats before the game

The four matches played between Club Brugge and Juventus have all been in the European Cup/UEFA Champions League, with Juventus taking the lead by winning three of those four games (L1). Their most recent meetings in the same season saw the Bianconeri triumph in both matches, with scores of 2-1 away and 1-0 at home in the 2005-06 season. Club Brugge had a strong start against Italian clubs, winning their first three games in major European competitions during the 1975-76 UEFA Cup. Unfortunately, they have only achieved two victories in their last 20 encounters (D6 L12) and have not won any of their last 14 matches.

The most recent win by a Belgian team over an Italian club in the UEFA Champions League was in October 2003, when Club Brugge triumphed 1-0 against Milan. Since that match, Italian teams have gone unbeaten in 14 encounters, securing 10 victories and drawing 4.

This season, Club Brugge has claimed three wins out of six UEFA Champions League matches (with 1 draw and 2 losses). They only achieved more wins in a single European Cup season back in 1977-78, when they notched five victories and made it to the final, ultimately losing to Liverpool. On the other hand, Juventus has managed to keep a clean sheet in their last two UEFA Champions League games, which is more than they had in their previous 15 matches (just one clean sheet). The last time they recorded three consecutive clean sheets in this competition was from September to October 2021.
