EURO 2016, Round of 16. Switzerland and Poland ending regular time with a 1-1 draw going to extra time. The match decided in a penalty shootout and it is Poland to qualify for the Quarterfinals defeating Switzerland with a 5-4.
It’s Poland to open the score following a fast break in the 39th minute. Fiorentina midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski giving the lead to Poland defeating Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer with a right footed shot in the center. The assist is by midfielder Kamil Grosicki.
Switzerland equalizing in the 82nd minute with the ex-Inter Milan midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri defeating Poland goalkeeper with a left footed shot in the bottom right corner. The assist is by forward Eren Derdiyok.
Penalty shootouts: Switzerland starting the penalties with Juventus defender Stephan Lichtsteiner converting with a right footed shot in the center . The turn for Poland with Robert Lewandowski converting the penalty with a right footed shot in the top right corner. Tough situation for Switzerland when Granit Xhaka hit his left footed shot penalty wide giving Poland the advantage. Arkadiusz Milik, Kamil Glik and Kamil Grosicki also scored for Poland while Shaqiri, Fabian Schar and Ricardo Rodriguez scoring for Switzerland to make it 4-4. The winner penalty is converted by Grzegorz Krychowiak with a right footed shot in the top left corner for the final 5-4 sending Poland fans in paradise to celebrate the qualification.
