Statistics prior to the match

After not securing a victory in their initial four European encounters with Dutch teams from 1977 to 1983 (D1 L3), Brann has gone on to remain unbeaten in their subsequent six matches against these rivals (W2 D4).

Utrecht will be facing a Norwegian team for the first time in European tournaments; more broadly, this will also mark their first encounter with a Scandinavian club (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland) since their UEFA Intertoto Cup matches against Hammarby in July 2007 (0-0 and 1-1, in the tournament's third round).

Brann will host a group stage/league match in a European competition for the first time since the 2007-08 UEFA Cup, where they triumphed over Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 in November of that year.

This upcoming match (against Brann) will be Utrecht's first away game in the UEFA Europa League since December 2010, when they played to a 0-0 draw with Liverpool at Anfield.
