Bologna and Freiburg played to a draw in the UEFA Europa League, League Phase, Matchday 2, on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at the Renato Dall'Ara Stadium in Bologna. This was the first European match between Bologna and Freiburg, with the Rossoblu having won their last encounter against a German side in European competitions (2-1 against Borussia Dortmund in the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League group stage).

The equalizer, making it 1-1, came from a penalty awarded for Castro's handball, which Chukwubuike Adamu successfully converted in the 57th minute.
