Napoli won the away match against Qarabag on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, as part of the UEFA Champions League, Matchday 5, League Phase at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium in Naples, Italy.  Conte's team had not secured a Champions League win in nearly two months, and Scott McTominay had not found the net in Europe since late October.

The fans have organized a touching tribute to remember Maradona: during the tenth minute of the match, they raised scarves, jerseys, and flags in his honor. Even though many years have gone by, the affection that Neapolitans have for "El Pibe de Oro" remains strong and unforgettable.

McTominay honors Maradona as he leads Napoli to a 2-0 victory over Qarabag in the Champions League. The Scot opens the scoring with a header following Rasmus Højlund's missed penalty, and then he inadvertently causes Jankovic to score an own goal. David Neres delivers an outstanding performance.  Napoli now holds a seven-point lead.

This date holds special significance for the people of Naples. Five years ago, Diego Armando Maradona passed away, and the entire city, not just the football community, grieved the loss of the legendary number 10, who was the hero of Italy's first Scudetto in 1987 and beyond.

Napoli gained the advantage in the 66th minute. Scott McTominay heads the ball from the center, reacting quickly after Kochalski deflects Mustafazada's awkward tackle, which was initiated by Lang. Napoli finally breaks the stalemate, taking a 1-0 lead at the Maradona. The crowd erupts with excitement, lighting up the atmosphere. Just moments earlier, Olivera had attempted a shot after receiving a pass from Politano to the far post.

The celebration at the Maradona is in full swing! Napoli scores again in the 77th minute. Kochalski is outdone by Scott McTominay! Napoli is now ahead 2-0, although the second goal is credited as an own goal because of Jankovic's deflection. Ultimately, what counts is that Napoli is celebrating the goal!
