A fantastic evening for Atletico de Madrid as they triumphed over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League, League Phase, Matchday 2 on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium in Madrid.

This match was also significant for Antoine Griezmann, who netted his 200th goal for Atletico Madrid, helping the team to a 5-1 victory despite Diego Simeone's absence due to suspension.

Simeone was not present on the sidelines or in the dressing room after being banned for his conduct at Anfield two weeks prior, where he had a confrontation with officials and fans before receiving a red card.



 



 

Giacomo Raspadori found the net in the 4th minute with a left-footed strike from the center of the box into the heart of the goal. The ex-Napoli player netted his inaugural goal for his new team, Atletico Madrid, following his transfer.

 



 

 


This game marks the third encounter between Atlético Madrid and Eintracht Frankfurt in European competitions; the first two took place during the round of 16 in the 1975/76 European Cup Winners' Cup, both of which were victories for the German team (2-1 away and 1-0 at home).

The last German club to secure an away win against Atlético Madrid in a significant European competition was Borussia Dortmund in October 1996 (1-0 in the Champions League). Since that match, the Spanish team has gone unbeaten in 14 such games, winning 10 (with 4 draws).
