Vicenza fell behind early in the first half. In the 40th minute, Valentín Carboni found the net with a left-footed shot from the center of the box, directed towards the center of the goal. He was assisted by Aarón Martín, who delivered a precise through ball. Consequently, Carboni recorded the first goal of the season.

Just before halftime, the second goal came in the 45+1 minute. Stanciu's powerful free kick from the left led to an own goal by Francesco Benassai.

Genoa extended their lead to three in the 54th minute with a stunning goal from Nicolae Stanciu, who volleyed the ball into the top corner with an impressive strike. The Romanian midfielder exhibited exceptional ball skills, all while under the watchful gaze of national team coach Lucescu. Stanciu must have felt overjoyed.
