“Italy will submit application to host U21 2019 European Championship to UEFA.” FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio made this announcement after today’s press conference, which featured Italy head coach and Coordinator of the youth teams Antonio Conte and Vice-Coordinator Maurizio Viscidi, who took stock of the activities of all Azzurri teams.
Italy’s application proves FIGC’s increasing commitment to international events; the Federation aims to host important international sporting gatherings and they have had a number of successes recently. As a matter of fact, Italy will host the 2016 Champion League final in Milan, the 2016 Women’s Champions League final in Reggio Emilia, as well three EURO 2020 group stage matches and a quarterfinal in Rome.
Speaking of the Under-21s, FIGC CEO Michele Uva announced that Reggio Emilia will host the 2017 European Championship qualifier between Italy and Slovenia on 8th September.
