Italy vs. Spain: both sides show their mutual respect over Twitter using #MediterraneanDerby

On Monday at 6pm, Italy and Spain will take to the pitch in Saint Denis to battle it out for a place in the quarter finals of UEFA Euro 2016. In the virtual stadium of social media, the fair play has already started with the #MediterraneanDerby initiative organised in collaboration with Twitter.

Earlier today, both Italy (@Vivo_Azzurro & @azzurri) and Spain’s (@SeFutbol) Twitter accounts published messages from two of the teams’ most recognisable faces. The Azzurri posted a video message in Italian from Alvaro Morata whilst La Roja used their account to tweet a video message in Spanish from Giorgio Chiellini.

@Vivo_Azzurro then published an interview with Chiellini on the theme, “What do you like about Spain?” and @SeFutbol responded in kind with an interview with Morata about Italy. Both these great players then asked their own fans to tweet what they most like about the other country using the hashtag #MediterraneanDerby.
