Azzurri dominate the web after Euro 2016’s second match day

After the second match day at Euro 2016, the Italy national team’s social media channels have continued to outperform those of all the other nations participating in the championships! There was a new record for engagement on Facebook over a week and lots of initiatives are inundating social media!

According to Result Sports, a German internet data agency, the Azzurri’s social media channels continued to perform the best out of all the channels of participating countries after the second match day with digital growth of +385,836!

The Azzurri’s Facebook page had the greatest reach on several different days this week. Only France managed to equal Italy’s level of engagement over the last seven days which stood at 1.8 million interactions.

The most successful post by a national team remains Italy’s infographic which announced the result of Belgium-Italy (reaching nearly 8 million people), but the infographic announcing the result of the Sweden game also managed impressive figures as it reached more than 4.7 million people. There were similarly impressive numbers for Italy’s Facebook Frame (the badge for profile pictures) which has so far been used 1.2 million times and been seen over 300 million times.

Furthermore, the Italian fan page has a growth rate of 5.5% and now has 4.5 million followers thus gaining more new followers than any other team. There were also substantial numbers for the Azzurri’s exclusive videos and for live-streaming of Italy’s training sessions with six clips breaking the 2 million views mark.
The Made For Italy photography contest is also ongoing!

There was an explosion of interest in the Italy national team’s two Twitter accounts, @Vivo_Azzurro (IT) and @Azzurri (EN). During June, the two profiles have achieved a total so far of 30.6 million views and over 1 million visits. The animated GIFs showing each Italy player’s goal celebration have proved popular with users, as has the #GIFAzzurri contest. The most recent analysis also showed the success of the first infographic in the “If they had had Twitter…” series which imagined a tweet from Giuseppe Meazza posted when Italy won the World Cup in 1938.

The @azzurri Instagram account has also been growing and now has more than 500,000 followers.
“FRATELLI D’ITALIA”, ITALY NEEDS YOU!
Following coach Conte’s appeal to Italy fans to wear blue in the stadium following the Italy-Sweden game, social media users who follow the Azzurri have been asked to share an infographic of the Italy jersey on Facebook and Twitter in order to create a sea of blue online!
