Azzurri arrived in Lille and inspected Stade Pierre Mauroy pitch

Italy have arrived in Lille and the Azzurri travelled straight to the Pierre Mauroy Stadium from the airport to take a quick look at the pitch which will host their match against the Republic of Ireland tomorrow at 21:00 CEST with the Romanian referee Hategan officiating. The match means nothing in the standings for Italy but Antonio Conte wants to win to finish the group with maximum points and to celebrate three wins from three matches in front of the 8,000 Azzurri fans expected to fill the stands.

The Azzurri had their last training session at the Bernard Gasset centre before they flew to Lille in the afternoon for the third and final group stage match against the Republic of Ireland. The fixture will be held at the Pierre Mauroy Stadium at 21:00 CEST and with the Romanian Hategan officiating and around 8,000 Azzurri fans are expected to be in attendance. Gigi Buffon trained normally following his fever in the past days while Antonio Candreva continued with individual work. The press were present for the opening 15 minutes as the team did rondo drills and after the squad worked away from the cameras on the minute details needed for the match against Ireland.

Italy have already qualified as group winners and they will learn their opponents for the group stage in the evening as Group D finishes with Spain playing Croatia and the Czech Republic vs. Turkey. The group’s runners up will face the Azzurri on 27th June at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis.
