Azzurre beaten by Belgium in the Cyprus Cup

The Women’s National Team lost their second match of the Cyprus Cup having already been defeated 3-0 by DPR Korea in the opener. In the second match, the Azzurre lost 4-1 to Belgium. Italy took the lead in Larnaca after nine minutes thanks to a Daniela Sabatino goal but the lead didn’t last for long as Wullaert equalised a minute later from the penalty spot.

Van Wynendaele gave Belgium the lead at the end of the first half and they had chances to go 3-1 up with Sabrina Tasselli making important saves. In the 64 minute, the Italy goalkeeper was caught out by a Coutereels effort from distance and Philtjens made it 4-1 after 81 minutes.
On Monday 6th March at 14:30 local time or 13:30 CEST, Italy will have another tough fixture against Switzerland who have already beaten the Azzurre twice in European Qualifiers.
