   Inter win the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, First Leg game, on Wednesday 22 February 2023 at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium in Milan, Italy. Inter goalkeeper Onana was the main protagonist denying FC Porto any chance to score. FC Porto remained with 10 players since the 78th minute, Otávio, sent off for a second yellow card.   The victory is thanks to the goal by Romelu Lukaku.

Inter will travel to Portugal for the Second Leg game on 14 March.

All four of Inter’s previous ties with Porto have taken place in the Champions League in 2005. Inter going unbeaten in the Round of 16 of the 2004/05 edition (W1 D1), before the sides won a match each in the group stage of the 2005/06 Champions League.

Inter opened the score in the 86th minute. Forward Romelu Lukaku defeated FC Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa with a left-footed shot to the center.

Stats before the game: Inter have won each of their last two home games played in the Champions League, beating Barcelona 1-0 and Viktoria Plzen 4-0. The last time the Nerazzurri collected three consecutive home wins in the competition was between December 2009 and November 2010 (a run of seven), in which they lifted the trophy in the 2009/10 edition.  Porto have won their last four Champions League games and could equal their longest winning streak in the competition – a run of five victories between October and December 2018, all under Sergio Conceição.
