Milan youths make mums proud on the same weekend that marked Mother’s Day in Italy.

 

 

MILAN – Sunday the 10th of May marked what was Mother’s Day in Italy, and the rossoneri youths certainly did their mothers proud with a weekend full of great results.On Saturday, there were three wins for the youth sector: (Milan-Sassuolo 4-1 Primavera, Forlì-Milan 1-5 Berretti and Milan-Renate 1-0 Allievi Lega Pro) while on the Sunday 5 Milan youth players started for the Italy Under-17s in their second match of the European Championships against Ireland. The match was won 2-0 by Italy with goalkeeper Donnarumma, defender and skipper Llamas, midfielders El Hilali and Locatelli, and striker Cutrone all doing Milan proud and taking their places in the starting eleven.

The good news kept on coming throughout the day with 3 important victories to report:

Starting with the Esordienti 2004 that won the Giovanni Alberto Agnelli Memorial after a 1-0 victory against Juventus in the final. The rossoneri youth team coached by Marino Frigerio reached the final after 4 straight wins:

Milan-J Star 4-0 (3 Montalbano, 1 Boni).
Milan-Chisola 4-0 (2 Malanga, 2 Montalbano).
Milan-Bologna 4-0 (2 Plescia, 1 Bonassi and Boni).
Milan-Junior Biellese 9-0 (2 Bonassi, 2 Foglio, 2 Malanga, 2 Montalbano, 1 Marozzi).

Alan Montalbano then scored the decisive goal in the final against the bianconeri in what was his 8th goal of the tournament. Congratulations to him and the rest of the team!

Congratulations are also in order for the Pulcini 2005 after winning the sixth edition of the Vitariello Memorial, the annual tournament played at the Kennedy Sports Centre in Milan. The rossoneri youngsters defeated Aldini, Enotria and Novara in the group stages and lifted the trophy after a 2-0 victory against city rivals Inter in the final.

Finally, the Giovanissimi 2002 have ended the season in style by brushing aside Pergolettese 6-0. The goals for the Milan youth team coached by Bertuzzo came from Palmieri (3), Luscietti (2) and Colombo.

With this result, the rossoneri end the season in second place behind Inter and ahead of Atalanta. Over the league season, the Giovanissimi 2002 have netted a total of 115 goals and conceded just 22. There have been 14 wins at home and just 1 defeat. On the road, the rossoneri have come away with 12 wins and just 3 defeats. Well done lads!
