MILAN - "Milan is what I wanted." With these words, Alessio Cerci introduced himself to the Milan fans shortly after landing at the Milan Linate Airport from Madrid on the 1st of January 2015. After his experience in the Spanish capital with Atletico Madrid, Cerci is back in Italy, determined and hungry to start his new adventure with the rossoneri jersey.
After his arrival and welcome at the airport earlier this week, the Italy international underwent his medical on Friday. Cerci arrived early at the "La Madonnina" clinic and there were plenty of reporters on hand waiting to catch a glimpse of the Italian forward and a statement.
In the afternoon, Cerci then made his way to Milanello to meet the rest of the playing squad. The Italian was linked with the club earlier in the summer, but his wish has finally come true as he himself said: "It’s taken a little longer, but I’m now happy." His joy was clear to see as he made his first visit to Milanello, greeting affectionately De Sciglio in the locker rooms as well as the warm welcome from the rest of the playing squad and of course a hand-shake and welcome from head coach Filippo Inzaghi.
Cerci’s day came to an end on Friday with his first run out on the pitches of Milanello as he began to acquaint himself with what will be his new home, where he will be looking to give everything for the rossoneri cause; something which he strongly wanted and has now achieved. Now all that remains for him to do is take flight and show exactly what he can do out on the San Siro pitch. Good luck Alessio and welcome!
