MILAN – On this day 25 years ago, the 17th of December 1989, AC Milan won its very first Intercontinental title of the Silvio Berlusconi era. Tokyo was the venue and Nacional Medellin were the opponents.Having won the European Super Cup against Cruyff’s Barcelona on the 7th of December, and holding a super Sampdoria side led by Boskov and with the likes of Vialli and Mancini 3 days later at the Marassi to a draw, Milan made its way to Tokyo, Japan.And just like at the San Siro against Barcelona (1-0 in favour of Milan), Evani was the hero and scored the game’s decisive goal to crown Milan as Champions of the World for the second time in its history, and as mentioned above, for the first time in the Silvio Berlusconi era.That evening, the club president wrote a letter on his emotions.
