Tavecchio on Heysel disaster: “Italian football has not forgotten. We stand united to remember the victims”

This was what FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio said on the 30th anniversary of the Heysel tragedy. The Federal Council meeting on Tuesday began with a minute of silence to remember those who died on 29th May 1985. FIGC CEO Michele Uva announced that he is working to organise a friendly between Italy and Belgium in November to commemorate the 39 victims.
“Football should always be a reason joyful event but it attracts troublemakers. It’s the reason why the institutions, clubs and true fans must oppose every kind of violence and intolerance,” concluded Tavecchio.
