MILANELLO – On Friday, Filippo Inzaghi held his pre-match press conference at Milanello ahead of Palermo-Milan. This is what was said ahead of the rossoneri’s trip to Palermo:Opening comments: "We have to build on our performance against Cagliari, we come off the back of two matches in which we’ve played well. We now have a big test and I am sure that we will play well. They have two players in attack that can change the match so we are well aware of the dangers that this match can offer. It will be tough, but if we want to be ambitious we have to win at Palermo and we’ve prepared aiming for the victory. I am sorry about Honda (out with an injury, editor’s note) because we will sorely miss him, he’s underrated in Italy. He’s a player that links up well and is intelligent. We’re disappointed, but in that role we have Suso, Cerci and Bonaventura and so it will be down to me to choose. We have an important squad of players that gives me the chance during the match to bring on some important players. I knew that with the return of the injured players we would get back playing like Milan. I hope that tomorrow that we win by giving a performance worthy of Milan."The coach continued: "A lot of rumours have circulated but I am focused on matters on the pitch, which is what I care most about. I have a great president and managers; Galliani is up all night to try and understand the good things that can be done for Milan. I hope to win at Palermo and play well. We must collect all 3 points at all costs as a win would be a big step forwards. Tomorrow there is only one result available."From one number 9 to another: "I hope that Destro can score a decisive goal, but whoever decides the match will make me happy. We clearly hope to put the centre-forwards like Destro in the best position to score. Menez has had the best season of his career. I was very happy with how Cerci came on against Cagliari, he was influential, he was unselfish. This was his best reponse. We know that most matches are decided between the 70th minute and the 90th. He doesn’t have anything to prove to me, because I wanted him here at Milan."Inzaghi hinted at how Milan will line-up against Palermo: "Us and the players feel secure, nothing gets to us, not even the rumours around the club. We’re only thinking about winning. When the team does well and when you have players free from injury, you can field a consistent line-up. So, we will make very few changes tomorrow as it makes little sense to change a side that has done well in the past 2 matches."A word on Suso: "When Milan buys a player it’s because they believe in them, during the international break I was able to play Suso in his ideal position. I know that from now onwards I have an extra player available to me in matches. The season is not yet over, we’ve done better at the San Siro than on the road but we can still turn this trend around. I hope we play a good match tomorrow with the same personality that we showed in Florence, but hoping the result ends up differently."The coach is optimistic with the emptying out of the treatment room: "The difference will be made by the players coming off the bench. I’m hoping that now we have close to a full squad available, the attitude will change and that we can do well. I move forwards with great professionalism and I hope to pay back those that want the best for me with results. The injuries cannot be an excuse, we should have done better. Something has already changed in the past matches now that we have close to all of the injured players back. Tomorrow is a test, we’re ready I think and we’re going there to win."Inzaghi added: "I accept the criticisms, but we also need to remember the good things that have been done. I will do this job for many years and I know that the criticisms will always exist. I hope the side isn’t too affected by this. We need to have the belief that we can think of winning all the matches from now until the end, but for now let’s think about doing well one match at a time and giving good signs with our performances. If we play like we have done in our past 2 matches, it will be easier to win."Closing comments: "My players should all have the determination to be able to show in these final 10 matches that we’re the same side from December. It’s down to us to show this spirit. Honda trained yesterday and twisted his ankle during a challenge. I thought we could have him available, but from the tests it’s emerged that he will be out for a few weeks."
