Como came from behind to beat Genoa 4-1 in a convincing Serie A victory, overturning an early Milutin Osmajic goal with strikes from Martin Baturina, Nico Paz, and an Assane Diao brace.
The Lariani arrived in good spirits after their 2-1 away win against Napoli, while deadline-day signings Moise Kean and Robert Sanchez were waiting on the bench for their Como debuts. Only Jayden Addai was unavailable through injury.
Genoa, meanwhile, were looking for a response after defeats by Napoli and Lazio without scoring. Lorenzo Venturino, Joi Nuredini, Hamed Traore, and Elias Havel remained out, while Djibril Sow and Osmajic made their first starts.
Como fight back after Genoa takes the lead
Como created the first opportunities, with Justin Bijlow getting fingertips to a Yan Couto effort before denying Nico Paz from distance. However, Genoa took the lead against the run of play.
Lorenzo Colombo broke forward down the left against Como’s high defensive line before rolling the ball across the box. Osmajic got ahead of Trevoh Chalobah and finished from close range to put the hosts in front.
Como responded with an equaliser from Baturina. The midfielder received the ball well outside the penalty area and drilled a right-footed shot into the far bottom corner.
The visitors then completed the turnaround when Leo Ostigard only managed to graze his head against an Alex Valle cross. The ball fell to Diao at the back post, and he kept his volley low to give Como the lead.
Nico Paz puts Como 3-1 ahead
Como continued to control possession and extended their advantage before half-time. After a long spell of passing, Yan Couto sent a chipped ball over the defence towards Nico Paz.
Paz controlled it with his left foot, allowed the ball to bounce, and then fired a right-footed shot into the near top corner to make it 3-1.
Genoa attempted to respond after the break, while Tasos Douvikas saw his header skim the crossbar before being replaced by debutant Kean. Kingsley Ehizibue also made his first appearance for Genoa.
Como came close to adding a fourth when Paz collected a weak clearance on the edge of the area and struck the post with a first-time effort.
Assane Diao completes Como’s 4-1 win
Kean eventually made an immediate impact on his debut, combining with Maxence Caqueret in midfield before driving forward. He then unselfishly rolled the ball across to Diao, who finished with an angled shot to complete his brace.
Junior Messias nearly produced a spectacular response for Genoa in the final minute, but his back-heel flick from a corner went just wide.
The defeat means Genoa have now lost their opening three Serie A matches of the season, while Como leaves with a 4-1 victory after turning the game around following Osmajic’s early goal.
