SPECIAL FIXTURE

MILAN – This Sunday’s league encounter in Bergamo between Atalanta and Milan is no ordinary fixture for our international midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura. The Italian star shot to fame with the Atalanta jersey and his impressive displays with the Orobici earned him a move to San Siro and Milan in 2014.Bonaventura has been involved in four matches between Atalanta-Milan in Bergamo. Three of those meetings have come in the black and blue of Atalanta, starting twice and coming off the bench in the other, with an outcome of two defeats and one win. His sole appearance so far in the red and black of Milan in Bergamo came on the final day of last season and saw Jack take centre stage, netting twice in a Milan victory over Atalanta. The Italy and Milan midfielder will now be looking to recover fully from the flu that forced him to pull out of the Italy squad ahead of the friendly with Germany earlier this week and take his place in the Milan squad for Sunday’s trip to Bergamo.Bonaventura left a lasting impression at Atalanta, winning the local Turani Prize last November. The feeling and affection is mutual with the versatile midfielder himself stating: "I am happy at Milan, but Bergamo is a second home to me."
