PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL

MILAN – Club president Silvio Berlusconi gave his thoughts to the press in the wake of Milan’s 3-2 win over Palermo on Saturday night. This is what he had to say: "I liked the team’s performance and I saw a match played with incredible sporting aggression. I struggle to recall seeing such a strong pressing game like the one adopted by Palermo. There were a lot of players down for fouls and I yearn for the good-old days when players had the time to think, no one can do that with this type of football. Balls lumped forward, there is less thinking behind the game. Milan played well, but I continue to hope that we can keep possession when we’re in front with 15 minutes to go. We need to keep the ball away from our opponents, it’s something that can be worked on in training, I would like to see it with my Milan, but I’ve never been able to."
The club president continued: "I find it hard to compare Carlos Bacca with other players we’ve had in the past. He has a great eye for goal, is deeply religious, very professional, I like him a lot. Balotelli didn’t get a pass wrong tonight and God willing he really has changed, he appears to be more serious and pensive. He made a series of runs and passes, linking up with the other players. I hope he can keep this going in the future. I talk with him on the phone from time to time and he seems calm, I think he has reached the maturity stage in a player’s career. I can also see him playing behind the two strikers, although let’s not forget that we have Jeremy Menez unavailable, let’s hope we can have him back soon. Balo can play in any of the three positions in attack. Calabria? His performance won everyone over in the stands. All the fans were behind him, cheering him on, applauding constantly, he has become the fans’ idol."
Berlusconi set his sights on challenging at the top: "The team has been put together to compete at the top end of the table. We are missing some key players, but I saw the midfielders play well tonight. Riccardo Montolivo passed the ball around in an Andrea Pirlo style, so I am really happy. The match versus Inter could have finished with another result, we could have won the match. I can see the hand of Mihajlovic with how the team are doing, from their determination to the changing room atmosphere."
On the transfer market: "Before buying a house for 3 million euros, I mull it over for 2 months, Galliani bought Kucka for 3 million euros in two hours. It was a sensible move not to buy Kondogbia at that price. The starting price for the negotiations was half that fee. I like Poli and I rate him. Ibra wanted to come to Milan, but they wouldn’t let him go. However we got Balotelli, who is younger. Ibra is like me and is getting older. I really like Dybala, I hoped to bring him to Milan. I was supporting Juve against Manchester City."
Closing comments on Mr. Bee and the stadium: "They have presented us with plans to commercialise the brand, there will be an important influx of revenue, we’re calculating up to 100 million euros per year. Milan have to go back to being a team that reaches the semi-final and final of the Champions League, but Milan also have to end the year with the financial books balanced. Mr. Bee was in Milan and we’ve set an appointment for the 30th of September, I have positive information from the banks. The stadium? Barbara was upset, but she understood the reasons. I am in love with the San Siro. We are getting it ready for the Champions League final, personally I am happy that Milan stays at the San Siro."
