POST-MATCH REACTION

MILAN – This is what was said by the players and staff after Parma-Milan:
JEREMY MENEZ"I am settling in well with this team, we have a good group, I always say it. We’ve started the season well, it was a very hard match but we did well. I spoke to the President on the phone and he told me that I had a great game, I thank him and I’m happy, but I know football and I know that it can all change. This side deserves more. It’s good to win but the season is long and there are a lot of matches to go. We have to rest up now because next Saturday there is a big match. Scoring goals is pleasing, especially like the one tonight. I did what I had in mind. It wasn’t easy tonight after Bonera’s sending off, but we managed it. The coach showed confidence in me when we met in Ibiza and he wanted me to come to Milan and for me it was important to go to a club that counts on me after the last year at PSG where no one had faith in me. I want to continue like this for the staff, the club and the fans. We’re a group and if I can do well it’s thanks to them."SULLEY MUNTARI"The three points are important above all. If we want to be a good group then these matches help us to grow. We have the desire of the coach. We’ve shown we can do well even after losing some important players through injury. We can’t forget that we have lots of different alternatives in the squad that can help us. We are doing well and this is important. Against Juventus we also want to do well. However, let’s think about resting for now."ADIL RAMI"I came on in a difficult moment, Parma is a tough place to come. The important thing is that we showed we’re a team. It’s true that since I was a child I’ve loved this club and these colours. If I’m on the bench, I don’t feel less important, I know I can have my chances. We haven’t forgotten last season where we did badly, we’re working hard and we will continue to do so to take Milan back to being a great club. Coach Inzaghi is pushing us to do so as well. We should have won last year at home to Juventus, but it’s destiny. Menez has shown himself to be a top player, he can play in all areas of the attack, he’s a quick player."COACH INZAGHI (PRESS CONFERENCE)"We put heart, soul and organisation into it. It would have been a shame not to have won a match that we deserved. I’ll now re-watch the goals we conceded calmly and if there were errors, but there is also the opposition. At the end with the defence lined up we did some good things. We can’t allow opponents to get back into closed matches. I’ve congratulated everyone and above all those who came off the bench. I saw the entire bench jump up to celebrate all of the goals and this pleases me. Putting on Rami and Zapata all of a sudden like that and to see them come on with soul pleases me. Niang came on for 5 minutes with the right spirit and ran a lot. The match incidents are free for people to comment on how they want. It was a thoroughly deserved victory. Menez is a gifted player and he scored a brilliant goal. Luckily he arrived for free. Players like him and Alex are welcome. I have to thank those who allowed me to coach Milan and who has given me this opportunity. My players were very good. Perhaps no one expected us to win these 2 matches, but we know the road is long. There’s nothing we’ve discovered about De Jong. He’s a great player that at the World Cup already showed how much he is worth and how important he is to the team. But I like to underline the spirit shown by everybody. We play our next match against a really strong side, without anything to lose. Let’s hope our fans help us achieve a miracle. The balance wasn’t missing, but we gave away fortuitous goals. Pushing the wing-backs forward and sending the forwards in between the lines is our prerogative. Everything that we tried in training worked out in the match how we wanted. Bonaventura was forced to get the ball deep and he struggled a bit at the start, but then he scored a great striker’s goal and he came close to another. I am happy with him just like I am happy with Van Ginkel and Fernando Torres. The club has gifted me on the final days of the transfer market with great men in addition to top players. I hope to have Torres available for Saturday. The injuries will probably leave us without Diego Lopez and Alex. Torres tried until the very end to play. It’s pointless to take risks. Against Juventus we need the perfect match. We can make life difficult for the bianconeri even if they are very strong, but in a one-off match unforeseen things can happen and the San Siro will help us. Honda is a top professional and an exemplary lad. He was fresh today despite his trip to Japan. In my opinion he was undervalued before these goals. Now that he has scored these goals they realise. Up front I am spoilt for choice."
