MILAN SCHOOL CUP FINALS

Milanello staged the finals of the tournament for primary schools on Sunday.

MILAN – Milanello played host to the finals of the Milan School Cup on Sunday the 31st of May, the tournament for primary schools from the city of Milan and surrounding areas organized by the Cimiano Sports Centre and Milan Soccer Schools with the support of Milan Junior.

Over 150 children took part from the ages of 6 through to 11 and split into 16 teams. Their families and school teachers were all cheering them on from the sidelines too. The children also had the unique chance to play and visit the same site where the first team players and their idols train daily!

Every squad was made up of 5-8 children (mixed teams of boys and girls) of the same age and same school, but not necessarily from the same class. The 5 a-side matches were played out without goalkeepers and with rolling subs. In a bid to promote fair play and healthy competition, the matches were refereed amongst themselves.

In addition, a prize was handed out to the team that produced the best illustration that portrays the theme of “Rispetto: non è vincere ad ogni costo ma partecipare con gioia / Respect: it’s not about winning at all costs, but taking part with joy.”
