FOCUS ON SAMP

MILAN- This is what Giacomo Bonaventura had to say after the 23rd edition of the Berlusconi Trophy which saw Milan run out 2-0 winners at the San Siro on Wednesday night. The Italian scored the second goal and sealed the win for Milan.
GIACOMO BONAVENTURA"I’m happy, this match was useful as training because San Lorenzo are a strong side, we’re pleased. I’ve shaken off the head injury, a week was enough. Sampdoria this year are doing really well, they’re confident and they have good players. We will have to be careful and give a great performance. We come off the back of a negative result, and when these slip-ups happen, you give everything to show that it was a one-off. We’re doing quite well and the more we go forward the better it is. Perhaps some of the players that have played more need to recover, but physically we’re fine. That’s a position I like as I try to play between the lines, when the others have the ball I try to make runs and for the opposition defenders it’s hard to mark me, I try to do it consistently. We’ve spoken about the problems from the Palermo match, but when you’re looking to grow the odd defeat can do you some good as it helps you understand what we mustn’t do. Van Ginkel is a good player, he’s got strength and quality, he showed that today. We have a midfield with lots of good players, with champions that have won a lot in the past. It’s not easy to play in this Milan side, you have to give your all. Montolivo is an important player, he’s done really well at Milan, he brings quality to our play, clearly being an important player we’re missing him, we’re all trying to give that something extra. Stephan is giving his all and is making his qualities available to the side, he’s not scoring, but his performances have been good. He can improve as can the rest of us. When the team grows, so will he. We’re Milan and we try to play in a purposeful manner at every ground, this is the mentality that the coach passes on. We will have to go there and try to win."
