MILAN – At Milanello Adriano Galliani commented to Milan Channel on the club’s two most recent signings, Diego Lopez and Pablo Armero, "I believe a lot in both of these players. We know them well, we had been following them for some time, and we appreciate their abilities and I think they will do very well here.”
The basis for the arrival of goalkeeper Lopez was the excellent relations between Galliani and the Real Madrid president. The Milan CEO continued, “I don’t want to take the credit because that’s not my style, but the easy-going nature of our rapport with Real Madrid, the friendship, I believe facilitated the move. We had asked Carlo Ancelotti what Lopez was like, and we also inquired with Villiam Vecchi because he had coached him and nobody knows his strengths more than Vecchi – who is convinced he is a great goalkeeper. Today Daniele Tognaccini was pleased about Lopez’s medical and athletic tests.”
As for Armero, Galliani said, “A swap deal was almost done in January between Constant and Armero, but when Constant refused to move, it broke down. Now that Constant has left, we went back for Armero. He is an important player, and he and Zapata are more like two brothers rather than two teammates. Armero told me that Mario Yepes had also spoke highly of Milan.”
