COACH LOOKS AHEAD

MILAN – This is what was said by the players and coach to the Milan Channel in the wake of the team's 0-0 draw with Carpi on Thursday night:
CRISTIAN BROCCHI "It’s fair to say that we weren’t clinical enough tonight. We enjoyed a record amount of possession for the season. But that isn’t a guarantee for victory, but rather a sign that a team wants to take the initiative. We weren’t determined enough in attacking their backline and we moved towards the ball when we should have attacked deep to stretch their defence. We haven’t had much time to work together and 3 or 4 days aren’t enough. The desire and the commitment though have been present. On other occasions we didn’t see the kind of desire we showed tonight to keep the ball and create chances. We have to work on our determination and spirit however which cannot ever go missing. The fans need to see this in the team. They need to see that the payers have desire, commitment and even a warrior spirit. I always want to see us play with determination. The absence of Kucka is not an excuse. I am happy with José Mauri’s impact tonight.  He gave me positive signs in a testing moment during the match. He fits in well and he came on with the right approach. He attacked the opposition penalty area in the right way and he has to try and always do that. He came close to opening the scoring too. I told him that I like him as a player. I was not as good as him at his age. If he keeps this up he can have a very good career. Today he was very useful to the team and it would have been great if he could have scored. We now have to set our sights on Monday’s game, keep our heads up and work hard. Forza Milan!"
MANUEL LOCATELLI"I still can’t come to terms with what I have achieved. My dream has come true. I want to thank everyone and in particular my family. This is only the starting point for me. I will work hard to have more chances and show what I can do. I have been with the Milan youth sector for 7 years and I have worked my way up through the ranks. I want to thank De Vecchi and one of my best memories is the victory in the Nike Cup in the summer of 2013. I hope the Milan U19s can reach the Scudetto finals this year. I want to thank the fans for the reception they gave me. I know I have to play well and show what I am capable of. I will always give my best for this club and I will be ready whenever I am called upon. It was incredible when the President spoke to me last September. I am really happy with his comments about me. We didn’t play badly tonight, but we simply weren’t able to find the opener. We will try and bounce back right away. We’re all eager to get back on track."
JOSE' MAURI"It’s not easy to face teams like Carpi who close themselves up. The coach is asking us to be quick on the ball and that is not simple. We’re disappointed because we have missed the chance to cut the gap in the table. But what is done is done and we have to look ahead to the next game on Monday. It was easier versus Sampdoria because they tried to attack. We tried to win right until the end, but unfortunately we didn’t find a way past. I missed out on 30 matches, but now when I am needed I will always give 100%. It isn’t easy because I haven’t played regularly. I must thank the coach for the kind words he had to say about me. I hope I can achieve half of what he achieved during his career. He was very clear with me right from the start and without making any promises. We have to come charging out of the blocks in our game with Verona. It’s important we break the deadlock early because they will sit back and defend."
