MILAN – The AC Milan Youth Sector held their annual Christmas Party on Thursday night which took place at the Metropol Dolce&Gabbana in the city. Filippo Galli, Antonella Costa and Mauro Bianchessi were there to welcome the guests. The First Team and of course all of the players from the 11 youth sector sides were also present along with their families.Antonella Costa, the organisational director for the AC Milan Youth Sector, had the chance to talk about the project "Respect Yourselfie", in collaboration with the Pepita Charity, which promotes a positive image of oneself. There was then a moving video showed to all of the guests before a “selfie” was taken between Antonella Costa, Mauro Bianchessi and Filippo Galli followed by Baresi, Tassotti, Maldini, Galli and Costacurta. Galliani defined the latter as the best defence in history and then praised the Maldini family for the two European Cup triumphs in England by Cesare and Paolo, captains in 1963 and 2003 respectively. The club’s CEO Adriano Galliani also had this to say to the media before making his way inside: "The Youth Sector is our present, but above all it is our future. They have to become footballers, but above all men. In 2014 we won the Viareggio Tournament with our Primavera and the Allievi Nazionali contested the Scudetto Final on penalties, but even this season the Allievi Nazionali and Giovanissimi Nazionali are doing well. Modic? He’s in pole position, but we’re also following other talents, of course also Locatelli. The message I send however is that the jump between the Primavera and the First Team is too much, we need something in between. We need the Federation to resolve the problem, it would be really nice if big clubs like Milan had a second team."Paolo Maldini spoke exclusively to the Milan Channel at the event on Thursday night: "I think this event is an important thing to show how well the Milan Youth Sector works. The look-out for talent and the growth of these players is at the basis of everything you see here this evening. There are many youth sectors that have been structured well, but the one at Milan since I was playing here has always considered the playing style and possession to be an important idea. The results are excellent, even if generally in the youth sector you shouldn’t look too much at results but new talents and their growth ahead of professional football. It’s much harder to be a part of the Milan Youth Sector now, once it was a bit more closed, now there is more competition and professionalism, but before anything there has to be talent and passion. In my opinion, the objective of all the youth sector teams is to see one day the players make their debut in the first team."Here are some of the other comments from those present on Thursday evening:Mauro Tassotti: "Playing for Milan was a dream. I came through at Lazio, but I then always played here."Alessandro Costacurta: "Lads, don’t stop dreaming."Riccardo Montolivo: "I play where the coach believes that I can be most useful to the team. I’ve always done so and I always will. It’s no secret, but the role I prefer is in front of the defence in a 3 man midfield."
