BEYOND THE RESULT

MILAN- Milan and Chievo played out a goalless draw at the Bentegodi on Saturday night in what was an even contest. The rossoneri’s first chance fell to Mattia Destro, who connected with a super ball over the top by Andrea Poli, but it was saved by Chievo’s Bizzarri. Minutes later Milan’s next chance came from Alex. The Brazilian defender fired a fierce free kick which, after a series of ricochets, found its way through to Bonera and once again Bizzarri was on hand to make another save. Straight after the break Keisuke Honda, brought on for Riccardo Montolivo during the half-time interval, came agonisingly close to breaking the deadlock firing a powerful effort which crashed against the cross-bar. Second half substitute Alessio Cerci then forced Bizzarri into a save late on. Here are the stats to emerge from the match: 3-  Saturday’s draw away to Chievo was Milan’s third straight match without defeat.8-  the number of points collected by Milan in February; the rossoneri’s best month this season along with October.2-  this is the number of goalless draws that have been played out at the Bentegodi between Chievo and Milan. The first arrived last season in Round 12 of Serie A.2-  the goalless draw against Chievo was the second time this season that Milan have been involved in a match with no goals. The first came away to Roma in December.
