BENTEGODI MEMORIES

MILAN – Inzaghi, Sheva, Montolivo, Nesta and more have all played their part in the fixture Chievo-Milan over the years. Here below we take a stroll down memory lane and look back at the history of the fixture:
In Chievo’s first two seasons in the top-flight, the Gialloblu picked up positive results against the Rossoneri in both meetings at the Bentegodi: in 2001-02 Inzaghi scored a diving header in a 1-1 draw while the season after Sheva was on target, and again with a header, but Chievo ran out 3-2 winners.
Milan’s first victory away at Chievo meanwhile coincided with Andriy Shevchenko’s 100th and 101st goals for the Rossoneri. During this testing time for the ex-striker, we hope this memory from 2003 is of some comfort to him and can bring a smile to his face.
Often, the Rossoneri have won 1-0 at Chievo: with Crespo in 2004-05, Jankulovski in 2006-07, Seedorf in 2008-09, Muntari in 2011-12 and thanks to captain Montolivo on Easter Saturday in 2013.
Another special moment came in 2009: with Milan trailing one nil, and the game approaching the final stages, Sandro Nesta netted a brace to help Milan take all 3 points away at Chievo. Interestingly, both goals came from headers.
