MILAN – After beating Cesena over the weekend, the club’s youth sector side, the Primavera, won again on Wednesday morning away to Cagliari 3-1. The match in Sardinia was one of 2 league matches that the rossoneri youngsters had in hand, the other is with Atalanta. The 3 points collected in Sardinia means Cristian Brocchi’s team are on 18 points in the league table having won 6 out of 7 matches. The next match sees them take on Udinese this Saturday at 14.30.
Match report:The rossoneri youngsters made a bright start and on 15 minutes threatened the Cagliari goal with a volley by Mastalli which went inches over the bar. It was a sign of things to come and just after the half-hour mark, Milan took the lead after Vassallo linked up well with Locatelli before firing an unstoppable shot past the Cagliari shot-stopper.Just 3 minutes into the second half, Cagliari had a golden chance to level the scores after they were awarded a penalty. However, Milan’s goalkeeper Livieri had other ideas and denied Cagliari from equalising from the penalty spot, saving the effort which was taken by Cagliari’s goalkeeper Carboni.Livieri’s efforts buoyed his side back into life and Milan came agonisingly close to opening up a two goal lead after Gamarra smashed the post with his long range effort. The home side did level the scores through Capello but the score-line didn’t stay that way for long. 5 minutes later, Milan stormed forward on the counter-attack which ended with Vassallo turning in Vido’s assist for his second brace in as many matches.Vido was then involved again for the third and final goal providing the assist for Locatelli’s angled effort.
