Lecce and Venezia concluded Serie A Week 31 with a 1-1 draw on Sunday, April 6, 2025, at the Via del Mare Stadium in Lecce, Italy. Both teams are in a battle for survival, with just seven games left in the season. This result halted Lecce’s run of five straight losses in the league, although they are still searching for their first win. The draw brings the Giallorossi’s points total to 26, placing them three points ahead of Empoli, who are currently in 18th place. Venezia also earned a point, bringing their total to 21, keeping their hopes for survival alive with seven matches remaining.

In the upcoming Serie A fixtures, Lecce will travel to face Juventus on Saturday, April 12, 2025, with the match kicking off at 20:45. Meanwhile, Venezia will host Monza at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo on the same day, but the match will start at 15:00.

Lecce is facing a tough situation as Venezia scores first in the 50th minute due to an own goal by Antonino Gallo. The free kick, taken brilliantly by Zerbin, is met by the giallorossi winger who gets ahead of Gytkjaer. However, his touch misleads goalkeeper Wladimiro Falcone, resulting in the ball finding its way into the Lecce net.

Venezia levels the score at 1-1 in the 50th minute. Federico Baschirotto found the net with a header directed into the bottom right corner. The goal was set up by Thórir Helgason, who delivered a cross after a corner awarded to Jay Idzes. After Helgason’s corner from the right, the Giallorossi captain soared above Candé and angled his shot into the left corner past Radu. The atmosphere at Via del Mare is electric.

Lecce has maintained an unbeaten record in their last five Serie A encounters with Venezia, securing three wins and two draws. The only team against which Lecce has played more matches without a loss in the top division is Monza, with six games.

Simply put, Venezia has struggled offensively, scoring just one goal in their last seven Serie A matches (4 draws, 3 losses), a feat they haven’t experienced since the first seven matchdays of the 1998/99 season. Moreover, the Venetians have only managed one win in their last 20 top-flight games (9 draws, 10 losses), a situation they haven’t faced since May 2022.

Lecce holds the record for the longest active losing streak in Serie A, having lost five consecutive matches. The last time they experienced six straight defeats in the league was in April 2023.
