Mario Gomez injury update

Mario Gomez underwent diagnostic procedures today after injuring his knee in yesterday’s league match against Napoli.

Scans revealed a Grade I sprain of the medial collateral ligament. The striker will rest for a week while having appropriate treatment before having further tests and scans.

TRAINING SET TO START

MILAN – The Milan squad have reached the Acqua Acetosa Sports Centre in Rome where they will soon begin training. This is the first training session for the rossoneri after Sunday’s match with Lazio.Tomorrow meanwhile the players will train again ahead of Wednesday’s match with Fiorentina. Coach Clarence Seedorf will also be giving his pre-match press conference.

ITALY UNDER-17: 2 ROSSONERI CALLED-UP

MILAN – As reported by the Italian Football Association website, the Italy Under-17 team arrived yesterday in the Czech Republic ahead of Wednesday’s qualifier match for the European Championships against Albania.After a week of training, coach Daniele Zoratto finalised his 18-man squad for the match. 2 Milan Youth players are part of that squad: defender De Santis and midfielder Felicioli.

TODAY’S SCHEDULE FOR THE ROSSONERI

MILAN – After Sunday’s match with Lazio, Milan will stay in Rome in a training retreat ahead of the next match away to Fiorentina on Wednesday evening.The rossoneri are preparing at the Acqua Acetosa centre in the Italian capital.Interestingly, it isn’t the first time as Milan also stayed there in May 2011 after winning the Scudetto in Rome and before facing Palermo in an Italian Cup match.The team will train today at 15.00.
