🏆👉   Juventus win the UEFA  Europa League Round of 16 against Freiburg on Thursday 16 March 2023 at the Europa-Park Stadion in Freiburg, Germany.  Juventus with a 2-0 victory qualified for the quarterfinals of the Europa League. Difficult start for the black and whites who gain meters as the minutes go by and find the opening goal with forward Dušan Vlahović, then canceled by the VAR. In the end of the first half Freiburg remained in ten and Juventus passed with a penalty from the Serbian. In the second half, Juventus claimed the victory with a goal by Federico Chiesa in the 95th minute.  The first leg advantage seeing Juventus win the round of 16 with a 3-0 on aggregate.

Juventus opened the score in the 45th minute. Forward Dusan Vlahovic converted a penalty with a left-footed shot to the high center. The penalty is conceded by Manuel Gulde following a handball inside the penalty area. Gulde also got his second yellow card making it an automatic red card. Freiburg remained with 10 players.

Juventus sealed the victory in the 95th minute. Federico Chiesa scored with a right-footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Adrien Rabiot.

✅   Stats before the game: The next will be Freiburg’s first home match in the European Cups against Juventus and, more generally, against an Italian team. Juventus have never been eliminated by a German team between the UEFA Cup and Europa League in nine two-legged ties: the last one dating back to the semi-final of the UEFA Cup v Borussia Dortmund in 1994/95. Juventus have lost just one of their last nine European cup ties with German sides (W5 D3) – The Bianconeri have found success in the last three without conceding any goals, including their last match played in Germany in December 2019 against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League. Freiburg have never lost a knockout second leg in major European competitions (W2 D2) – the Germans have only managed to come from a deficit in the first leg once, against St. Gallen in the second round of the 2001/02 UEFA Cup (0-1 first leg, 4-1 second leg).
