A sad day for Italian football. AS Roma is out of the Europa League despite defeating Lyon to qualify for the UEFA Europa League Quarterfinals. The First Leg ended Lyon 4 – 2 AS Roma. The final aggregate result is AS Roma 4 – 5 Lyon.
Sadly, it is Lyon to open the score in the 16th minute. Defender Mouctar Diakhaby defeating AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson with a headed shot in the bottom right corner. The assist is by Mathieu Valbuena with a cross.
Bam! Quick reaction! The Roman gladiators equalizing the score not even passing 2 minute after the goal by Diakhaby. It is Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman to encourage the team defeating Lyon goalkeeper Lopes with a left footed shot in the bottom left corner. The assist is by midfielder Daniele De Rossi with a cross.
In the 60th minute, Roma taking the lead thanks to the own goal by Lyon midfielder Lucas Tousart.
