Spain win the UEFA Euro 2020 Quarterfinals defeating Switzerland on penalty shootout on Friday 2 July 2021 in Russia.   Spain will play the Semifinals against Italy. Sergio Busquets gets set for his 125th game with Spain.  Switzerland playing with 10 players since the 77th minute when Remo Freuler got a red card.

  • Switzerland with an added boost after eliminating France, the World Cup Champions,  as they came from two goals down to beat France on penalties after their Round of 16 tie had ended in a 3-3 draw.   Spain needed extra time to defeat Croatia, with a 5-3 win.

  • Juventus forward Alvaro Morata (Spain) played until the 54th minute and replaced by Gerard Moreno

Spain opening the score in the 8th minute. It is Jordi Alba to defeat Switzerland goalkeeper Yann Sommer with a left footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Koke with a cross following a corner conceded by Ricardo Rodríguez. Shaqiri captains Switzerland on his 96th international appearance.

Switzerland equalizing for the 1-1 in the 68th minute. It is Xherdan Shaqiri to defeat Spain goalkeeper Unai Simón with a right footed shot to the bottom left corner. The assist is by Serie A Atalanta player Remo Freuler. Way to go Freuler!

✅  Italy ready for  the UEFA Euro 2020 Quarterfinals against Belgium on Friday 2 July 2021 at the Football Arena Munich in Germany at 21:00.  The Azzurri making a pause to greet the fans in Munich on Thursday 1 July.  Gabriele Gravina president of the Italian Football Association (FIGC), Head Coach Roberto Mancini, Leonardo Bonucci and Daniele De Rossi paid tribute to the Azzurri fans present at the hotel that hosts the national team in Munich, home to the match against Belgium.
