This is the joint-longest run in their history, surpassing Head Coach Vittorio Pozzo between 1935 and 1939.  Italy will play the quarterfinals against the winner of Belgium v Portugal.

  • 👉 Stats before the game: Italy are unbeaten in their last 13 games against Austria in all competitions with 10 wins and 3 draws. The last time Austria defeated Italy was in the 1-2 friendly in December 1960. This is the first match between Italy and Austria since a 2-2 friendly draw in August 2008. As for Austria, this is their first ever appearance in the knockout stages of the European Championship, and their first in the knockout stage of any major tournament since the 1954 World Cup, when they reached the semi-final.
